Ross and her team celebrated the partnership with a champagne toast, and of course, the ceremonial signing of the Warner Records wall, which all artists with the label sign. The team has also taken the first steps of putting music videos together, which will follow Ross’ vision of lots of surrealist visuals and “dreamy, crazy colors.” “I’m excited to play these songs live, and see what people resonate with best,” she said. Over the next year and a half or so, songs will be released as EPs and singles - “little peppers of songs coming out,” in Ross’ words - to gauge audience response, which will determine details about upcoming concert dates and tours. A personal favorite of Ross’ is “Asking the Aspens.” Some songs are high-energy poppy with synthesizers some are quieter, accompanied only by guitar some are love songs some are commentary and some are experimental. Ross describes the collection of songs expected to be on the album as an eclectic mix. ![]() “I want to be delicate about presenting that, and let everyone feel included.” “It’s a difficult balance in art - you don’t want to be preachy or ostracize,” she noted. Growing up in Steamboat, raised by a park ranger/ski instructor mom and a dad who valued the outdoors, alongside a sister who’d end up studying ecology, “everything is nature-based, and climate-focused to its core,” Ross said. Ross’ album reflects her life in that it’s centered on the environment. ![]() “If I’m working seven jobs and trying to write songs, it’s hard to put my brain all toward music, and (the songs) don’t turn out how I want,” she said. The deal also means Ross will be able to focus exclusively on her music. “Everyone on my team trusts my vision a lot, and they trust me as a person.” “I’m very in charge of my art, which a lot of artists surprisingly aren’t,” she added. “Basically, I guarantee (Warner Records) a couple albums, and they help me build out the art and the marketing and help get the songs heard. On Tuesday, Ross announced she’d signed with the label, becoming one of more than 30 new artists with the company. After a whirlwind of conversations, meetings and negotiations - which proceeded extra quickly due to Ross’ sizable stockpile of songs already written - the deal was done. At the same time, she was babysitting, teaching music lessons, doing vocal work for commercials on a freelance basis and selling suitcases. While she found the writing sessions an interesting way to learn, the process was also defeating, with “almost 100 percent of the songs going nowhere,” she said. “It felt like the grad school of songwriting,” she said. With a performance of “August,” and “Sailing Ships,” she won the grand prize: a four-song EP and studio time with Grammy Award-winning producer Ariel Rechtshaid, a mentoring songwriting session with City and Colour, a performance slot on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a cash prize and more.Īfter graduating from CU, Ross headed west to Los Angeles, where she became friends with a crew of singers and songwriters, and for two years, spent days on end in group writing sessions meant to grow songs to pitch to pop stars. Soft Autumn ComparisonsĮver wondered how the other seasons influence your own season? We’ll introduce you to your sister palettes! It has low chroma as the palette isn’t saturated. The primary aspect of soft autumn is its dullness. This is what you call chroma in seasonal color analysis. The saturation of your features is determined by how soft/muted or clear/bright it can be. Look at your features and check how close it is to the most muted color: gray. This is easier identified if you consider how close your colors are to black or white.įor the soft autumn palette, it’s just a bit over the middle, leaning toward the lighter side, but most colors have medium value. The ratio of lightness versus darkness among your features is considered to be the value. The features and colors are anticipated to be warm, but because of soft autumn’s closeness to summer, it isn’t unusual for some shades to slightly fall on the cooler side.īut despite that, a naturally distinct yellow or brown undertone is dominant. Red, orange, and yellow hues are considered warm, while blue, green, and violet are considered cool.ĭespite being on the boundary of two different seasons, soft autumn clings more to its autumn family. Hue is determined by the temperature of your base color. Hue is how warm or cool your features are. Those under this season have the following dimensions: Hue Since soft or muted autumn sits on the gentlest and most subtle side of its family and right next to the summers, it has a muted primary aspect, followed by the autumn trademark: warmth. Your season is based on the combination of three distinct color characteristics of your natural physical features: hue, value, and chroma. It uses the natural colors of the skin, hair, and eyes to determine which color palettes to avoid and choose in terms of the different aspects of styles we choose, like hair color, jewelry, clothes, and even living spaces. The seasonal color analysis gives a great sense of color harmonization and coordination so that each feature and color we have on our bodies gets highlighted and not drained out of the picture when we style ourselves. Not an instant hit but it would later gain popularity with the RL-20ll in 1985. In 1983, they expanded further into the freestyle market with the RL-20 Prostyler. The PL-24 would be their first BMX bike with 24 inch wheels, commonly known as a cruiser. ![]() In 1982 Redline introduced the Proline ll, the MXlll series and expanded their line with the PL-20 and the PL-24. They would be BMX’s first tubular chromoly three piece cranks which would become Redline’s most popular product. With these additions the company was gaining success again and by January 1980, Redline Flight cranks were going into production. Soon after the famous V-Bars handlebars, the MXll frame and the Microline frame (mini series) were released. By this time Kastan had designed and was releasing the Proline, their first official Team Model frame and fork. In 1977 Kastan and Konle agreed to go separate ways and Kastan would take over full ownership of Redline Racing Frames and Konle would carry on with the motorcycle side renaming his company Champion. Due to the high price at the time of $85 the sales were dismal. Later that year Redline would release its first chromoly frame, the Squareback. They were an instant success and became a favorite amongst racers at the time. In February 1974 the first pairs of tubular chromoly forks were being produced. The bike was noticed by a company called Pedalers West and they challenged Kastan to come up with a stronger and lighter fork specifically for 20 inch BMX racing. His son soon raced this bike under his father’s company name Redline. In 1973 Kastan decided he would weld a bicycle frame for his son as a Christmas gift that same year. The company consisted of a staff of six people and was receiving much success with their motorcycle swingarms. Redline Racing Frames was founded in 1970 by Linn Kastan and Mike Konle in Chatsworth California for making chromoly motorcycle frames and swingarms. |
